Improvizone

6th gig: Tue 31 July 2007

Imbibe, 173 Blackfriars Road, SE1 8ER, is the place. Free admission, playing starts 7.30pm, finishes some time between 10 and 10.30pm. The following individuals will be entertaining you with luscious ambient and not-so-ambient musickery over the course of the evening.

This gig sees the return of Nick and Tibo who appeared at the first gig back in February. After bringing a laptop to the May gig and processing everyone else's sounds, Os returns with a keyboard this time so he can make his own. Simeon once again reverses his forklift-load of textural looping apparatus into the specially expanded parking space next to the drums. Mike Bearpark is on holiday. And I'm always there, whether you like it or not.

Staggeringly, we stuck to the running order last month. I am sure that will prove to have been a fluke, and that the following running order will be duly messed around with or forgotten about in the typical Improvizone way.

Where I've written intro, it means that the lineup will play for a few minutes before segueing seamlessly into the next section. For example, the trio will begin the gig while I check the sound and the cameras, then Nick and I will join in. I've deliberately missed out an interval this time, it was a nice idea the couple of times we did it, but we could never keep them short enough, and people assumed it was all over and left.

I would like to say we will be handing out free CDs again at this one, but the truth is we may not have any left. This is because many, many have been served up in little piles in various places around London, and more are due to be dished out this weekend. Come the gig, I will measuring whether this was a genius promotional manoeuvre, or whether I might as well have withdrawn several hundred pounds from my current account, struck a match, and set the lot on fire.
