Major-key four on the floor swung-funk
An hour and three quarters into our 27 Mar 2012 session at The Alleycat Bar, and we've hit almost a swingbeat funk, driven by the slightly ambiguous meter of Os's sequencer. Not only is the pulse a tiny bit wonky, neither has it been an immediately successful decision over whether we're playing in a major or minor key. Soon Os re-emphasises by adding a loop of something unmistakable, upon which everything settles. Jordan locks his burbling groove into my right foot four-on-the-floor thuds, while Mike and Os build up layers of guitar. A flurry of coincidence between the bass and drums brings about a pause that sounds like it will be just an interlude, but signals the end.
